Youth is the root of changing, the master of planning. The pure ideas are  often emphasized by the spirit and curiosity. In this productive age, human is full of potentials, which really need mediums to facilitate and express all of the energy.

From around 125 million people in Indonesia, there are approximately 60 million people which are under 30 years old. That is why, internationally, the world might admit the Indonesia’s power.
The world is dynamic, changing from time to time, from the lifestyle, the development of the urban world, politics, art and entertainment, and so forth. This constant change of the world is the part where the creativities and innovations are taking over, which might allow the impacts of both to flow like echoes throughout the atmosphere.
Relating to this, the youth is expected to give contribution to the nation for the better development. We might support and broaden the entire image of the country by being more aware about what the country needs, increasing the nationalism, and understanding its vision for then to be improved and advanced.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, The Habibie Center held a Talking ASEAN dialogue entitled “Embracing ASEAN Community: Youth Perspective” in BINUS International building in Jakarta. One of the speaker was Ms. Vita Alwina Busyra (Lecturer, London School of Public Relations), and she explained about the important role of youth for the agenda of the country. With such a big amount of youth in Indonesia, they should be involved in the integration process of ASEAN Community because of 3 reasons :  (a) youth were the future leaders;  (b) youth could make influence and powerful contribution; and  (c) youth could build a shared understanding between youth in ASEAN member states.

Moreover, as Mr. Wafa Taftazani (Deputy Manager, Corporate, and Investment Banking, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ) said, the ASEAN Community would offer many opportunities for Indonesia and other ASEAN member countries such as developing stock market integration, creating regional value chains, and building cooperation to build infrastructure in the region. It gives Indonesia and opportunity to utilize the golden chance to built a better Indonesia, by assembling the power of youth and dedicate it through real action and thoughts.
What about our role in the society?

Each age group in our the society, especially in our country, has its important role in every aspects. Let’s call it for the people from 15-25 years old, which is to be considered as the stage of life involving transition into adulthood.
Such enthusiasm and vitality are capable of starting the movements for the better Indonesia. We could develop the knowledge we received and be critical about the details and the output . One simple act might prove that the existence of youth benefits the society. The example of how to unveil our youth spirits for the people and the country is joining the programs involving the youth like seminars, workshops, forums, social workings, or other kind of positive events.

We could see how youth affects the political performance of Indonesia’s government from before the independence day until now. There were the “Rengasdengklok” tragedy, such massive history of Indonesia’s reformation, act as the facilitator of real voices of Indonesia and sit together in one table with the ministries and president, and so forth. That’s why, although not the only drivers of social change, young people are seen to be one the key drivers engendering change.

Do what’s right for ourselves, and turn around to look upon what encompasses us. Spread the power and the energy to lift up the pride and quality of a community and the country. The youth is here to be the leader of the future, so grab the opportunity while we still capable, do as much as we could and achieve as much as possible.
